Overview

Olympic Academy is a program of Capital Region ESD 113. Washington has nine educational service districts (ESDs). They were created by the state legislature in 1969 to ensure equitable outcomes for all students. ESD 113 serves the school districts in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Pacific, and Grays Harbor counties.

Misson

The mission of Olympic Academy is to teach students with social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges the skills necessary to achieve greater success in their home schools and in their communities.

AT OLYMPIC ACADEMY, WE BELIEVE… 

  • Strong academic instruction and behavioral interventions are central in working effectively with our students
  • Building strong relationships with students are the foundation of learning
  • All students are capable of learning academic and social/emotional skills
  • If students are not successful, we should first examine our environment and instructional behaviors
  • In confronting inequality based on race, and recognize and address our own biases

STAFF AT OLYMPIC ACADEMY…

  • Provide a quality environment that respects the individuality of each student 
  • Teach social and emotional skills that will support students’ reintegration back into their home school
  • Teach high quality reading, writing, mathematics, and enrichment lessons
  • Speak positively about the  students, their families, and colleagues

STUDENTS AT OLYMPIC ACADEMY…

  • Learn self-management, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy skills
  • Learn reading, writing, and math at their individual level
  • Try their best in each activity assigned to them
  • Are held accountable for their actions in a positive and supportive manner
